Did you know that the worldwide average amount of money it takes to feed a Rice Bowls partner on a daily basis is $.75? And that a plate of food that a child will get looks a little something like this...
These are all some of the things plus more that I will be including on my Rice Bowls project this term. Things are going to be done a little bit differently but I am very excited about the things that I will get to do and hopefully things are going to work out even a few bumps in the road come up here and there!
Mari Caroline, I love the rice Bowls project. Lewis and I have been supporting two teenage boys from a Compassion International site in Tanzania since Lewis climbed Kilimanjaro in 2008. One of the boys is now writing to us in English! It's great to eliminate the Swahili translator.
ReplyDeleteI think the only way to improve life in other countries and to change world politics for the good is by helping people help themselves.
Where is this going to take you?
I can't wait till you put the details of your new ideas on the blog!
ReplyDeleteOne question- Did you say that the picture of a bowl of rice was a full day's serving or just one meal? If it was a full day then maybe you could consider serving a portion of that which would be considered one meal. I realize that they may only get their daily portion in one meal but if that were broken into 3 meals then that maybe could be the amount you 'serve'...? would that make the idea a little more doable?
